VOGUE is sending me on holiday...

I am what you would call the luckiest person on earth right now, because tomorrow, Vogue.com sends me into summertime bliss for FREE to the Seychelles.
I will lie in the sunshine with my big sunglasses and a cocktail or two, and forget about life in dreary England.

Jealous?
GOOD!

SEE YOU NEXT WEEK!

Gaga and her ZIPS

The controversial Lady Gaga caused even more uproar in her recent interview for NME magazine. Not only is she dressed like a virtual pornstar, but her attitude has sparked conversation EVERYWHERE.
She likens herself to John Lennon.
She tells NME to 'fuck off'.
She criticises any comparisons between herself and Madonna.
Understandably, Gaga wants to be seen as an original artist. But she needs to get over the fact that, in her innovative ways, she is exactly what Madonna was in her day.

“I will look you in your eyes and tell you that I am not dumb enough or moronic enough to think that you are dumb enough or moronic enough not to see that I would have stolen a melody. If you put the songs next to each other, side by side, the only similarities are the chord progression. It’s the same one that’s been in disco music for the last 50 years.”
She concluded her rant by saying, “There’s a lot of people who want to see me fail. The minute they see something to shoot at, they shoot, and the bigger I become the bigger target I am. Nobody in this room at any point looked around and said ‘Oh my God, it’s ‘Express Yourself’.’ Not once. Listen. I swear to you.”

I'm just thankful the zips covered her up a bit.

Royal Influence

This week I have been interning at a local newspaper, and, although I really couldn't care less, it has really got me thinking about the Royal Wedding.
The media has gone into a frenzy about this event, but to be honest I really haven't thought about it.
The BBC released an article on the impact of Kate Middleton on the fashion industry and how her sense of style will effect peoples choice. I was aware that Kate's wedding dress was top secret and noone is entirely sure who the designer of the piece will be, but I had no idea that her style had already had such an influence already. Copies of her £399 Issa engagement dress have been sold almost everywhere; Michelle Obama had a similar effect after becoming the First Lady and boosting designer Jason Wu into the limelight.
Editor of British Vogue Anna Wintour says she thinks there is room in fashion for the likes of Kate Middleton as well as Lady Gaga. She also says that the future wife is sure to make 'some wise choices.'
I think that the days are long gone where everyone wanted to dress the same. It's much more about individual spirit and individual statement and I think that is part of the enjoyment of fashion today that is it so eclectic.

Does Kate Middleton have an effect on people's individual 'spirits' then? Does the Royal family really have that much influence over our country? At least Middleton is a typical
English Rose.
